Weegee - Photographer

"Weegee", Arthur Fellig (1899-1968), photographed urban life, from violent crime, to onlookers, to the poor, the rich, and the lost. He sold his photos to newspapers in the 1930s and 1940s. In 1935 he began working as a freelancer on the police beat night shift in New York City. Front flash bulb shots taken with a 4"x5" (negative size) Speed Graphic camera were his trademark. His book, Naked City, was bought by Hollywood and was used for a movie and TV series.
