WaterFest 2001 Art Exhibit

August 3-5, 2001 at Midland, Ontario

Thirty one artists exhibited their work at the second annual WaterFest Art Exhibit in very hot weather in Midland, Ontario, a town in the heart of the Georgian Bay playground.

This year’s WaterFest was enthusiastically supported by the Midland Chamber of Commerce and the Midland Business Improvement Association.

The art for sale ranged from original works, limited edition prints, and prints. The prints ranged dramatically in size from miniature work to very large framed pieces. There was also sculpture, painting on stone, work in clay.

The subject was focused on Georgian Bay: landscape, waterscape, nature, wildlife, flora, and all activities associated with this special place in Canada.

A brief list of subjects in no particular order: War of 1812 Naval craft, lighthouses, maple sap pails, fish, fishing boats, Georgian Bay pines on rock against sky and water, a porcupine, ducks, winter ice coated trees, herons, canoes, beaver, fall colours, ice fishing huts on the bay. There was a great range in styles within the watercolours, alone.

Overall a very high quality show and one that if you missed this year, be sure to come next year.

The WaterFest Art Exhibition is here to stay.
