PHOTO: Yashica D TLR 120 roll film camera that produces a 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"negative. Previously on bluetyger.ca about old cameras |
Yashica D TLR on tripod - Twin Lens Reflex camera - top lens is the viewing lens, bottom lens is the "taking lens", it has the shutter and lets light into the film back part of the camera.
Yashica D TLR viewfinder - a wide view
Close up view of the viewfinder, shows the lateral inversion of the image in viewfinder in that the name of the kayak is shown reversed. A bit dim, but it works well. These TLR cameras are very good for portraiture. The lines in the viewfinder help one get the horizon straight. Looks like I wasn't too careful for this demonstration photo. There is also a built in magnifier which you use to double check focus. I wasn't able to get a shot with that in place that was in focus. It can be seen in the image above as the ellipse set into the black viewfinder's front.
