The robins are walking on the ground
looking for Spring. Some bastard stole it.

The trick is in how you look at it.
with your eyes half closed
with the simple curing lust of regret

It is only a magic trick
and the magician and his shapely assistant
are already in the car inside their coats

arguing about which radio station to listen to.
cigarette ash accumulating on his shirt front
like the remains spilled from an urn.
