Mr. Turk E. Vulture dines alfresco A neighbour let me know that four turkey vultures were having an early supper on the shore a few doors down from my home. So I returned my two golden retrievers to their holding pen, also known as the house, and gathered up some photo gear. They saw me coming and flew off. I decided to try and get some cover from the flying surveillance of this team of four by crawling under a canoe on a boat rack not far from their meal (large bass lying dead on the beach). They are carrion eaters. I thought about trying to crawl closer but then the idea of lying there motionless led me to wonder how they might view my state of life or death. My improvised blind worked and one brave fellow came back and kept a close eye on me. Dusk was coming on fast, so I did the best I could with my camera equipment. I need a 500mm telephoto. I will be setting up the fund soon. The following photo image has had a complicated journey. Canon Elan 7E, Sigma 100-300 lens, tripod, Elite Chrome 200. Got the slides back and after using light table and 10 x loupe, chose four slides to scan - Epson Perfection 2450 set to 1200 dpi. Images brought into Adobe Photoshop Elements for some cropping could only use about 25% of the image and adjustments to levels and sharpening.
