her absurdly painted lips
reside near focus
Lartigue has softened everything
her throat a lake of milk
her hair parted in the middle
brushed tightly against her skull
thickens & sweeps & turns
below her hidden ears
plucked eyebrows lined
in two amused curves
long lashes long lashes
below heavy painted lids
not asleep but looking down
listening & waiting
for it to be over
