Reading and Such - Microsoft Reader
Microsoft Reader is a software package designed to display
electronic books or e-books. You can buy many books from vendors like Amazon.com
that are readable using this software.
I installed the first version of this some while back and recently downloaded
the latest version. I find that the display fonts management part of the
software is very good. I am reading it on a 19" monitor. I find it quite
easy on the eyes. I have not yet tried a small book pc or reading ebooks
on a notebook.
If I recollect correctly, Word 2000 has the ability to allow one to make
an ebook for the Microsoft Reader format.
Cost of ebooks?
A little looking around at Amazon.com showed these books and prices:
- Roses are Red by James Patterson
$11.96 US
- Timeline by Michael Crichton $0.90
US ( I have read this one in paperback and it is not one of his best
but at $0.90, hmmm.
- Blood on the Moon by James Ellroy
$0.50
These were under the category of
Mystery and Thrillers and there were quite a number of titles for $3.00
or less listed for downloading.
Something to think about if your library is bursting and you are experiencing
the sticker price shock of paperbacks over $10.00.
